Soon after the FBI arrested Republican House Speaker Larry Householder on bribery charges in connection to an alleged 61 million dollar bailout scheme for a nuclear energy company in exchange for cash, veteran journalist and author, Ryan Grim said this could be one of many corrupted schemes functioning across US.
in an interview Wednesday on the Ohio corruption scandal involving Householder, broadcast by The Hill, Grim noted that this kind of corruption could be ‘widespread’.
He also pointed out that this is not the only case regarding the nuclear energy sector and mentioned that there could be other probes soon. Grim, who is also the Intercept’s Washington DC bureau chief said authorities could be looking at other bailouts to energy companies around the country to determine whether similar schemes were present behind the scenes.
"There are nuclear bailouts going on around the country, so if you kind of peeled it back with subpoena power the way the Department of Justice did in Ohio, you might find that they actually are getting away with it all over the place," Grim said.
