On The Democratic National Convention, a speech delivered by Democrat Representative in New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was misquoted by NBC News on Twitter. A rightfully outraged Cortez responded immediately.
According to CNN, the tweet from NBC News said that AOC did not endorse Joe Bidden instead suported Bernie Sanders for presidency at the DNC. While in reality AOC spoke for Bernie as a deal to with Bidden campaign allowed the Vermont senator to keep the delegates he had already acquired.
According to the deal, the senator can fill statewide delegate and standing convention committee slots he would have been eligible for as if he still had an active campaign.
Although Sanders ended his presidential run in April and endorsed candidate Joe Biden he was still in line for the formal delegates count in DNC.
AOC criticised NBC for publishing a "blatantly misleading tweet" about her role and clarified in a tweet that she only seconded the nomination of Sanders for roll call. She also congratulated Biden for winning the nomination. NBC News published a tweet afterward that seemed to imply that Ocasio-Cortez snubbed Biden.
NBC later removed the tweet and added a screenshot of it to an editor's note that said, "This tweet should have included more detail on the nominating process."
